Arkansas homeowners and renters that were affected by severe storms in April may apply for FEMA disaster assistance online, by phone or in person. Disaster assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster. By law, FEMA cannot pay for losses covered by homeowners or renters’ insurance.
There are several ways to apply:
- Go online to https://disasterassistance.gov/
- Download the FEMA App for mobile devices
- Call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. CDT. Help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.
The Clark County Disaster Recovery Center is located at:
- Arkadelphia Recreation Center
- 2555 Twin Rivers Dr,
- Arkadelphia, AR 71923
- Dates: Thursday May 29th thru Saturday May 31st
- Times: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
When you apply for assistance, please have the following information ready:
- A current phone number where you can be contacted
- Your address at the time of the disaster and the address where you are now staying
- Your Social Security number
- A general list of damage and losses
- Banking information if you choose direct deposit
- If insured, the policy number or the agent and/or the company name
If you have homeowners or renters’ insurance, you should file a claim as soon as possible.
FEMA cannot duplicate benefits for losses covered by insurance. If your policy does not cover all your disaster expenses, you may be eligible for federal assistance.
