Position Summary:

The Circuit Court of the 9th East Judicial District is seeking applicants for a Juvenile Officer position. This is a full-time county position with benefits and retirement.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Receive and investigate complaints and charges that a juvenile is delinquent or that a family is in need of services.
  • Make appropriate investigations and reports when required to do so by order of the court.
  • Aid and counsel juveniles and their families when required to do so by order of the court.
  • Give appropriate aid and assistance to the court when requested to do so by the judge.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other public or private agencies of the community if their assistance appears to be needed or desired.
  • Assist law enforcement with admission processing and detention placement.
  • Conduct pre-dispositional investigations on referrals and prepare summaries and risk assessments from which recommendations are made to Prosecutors and Judge.
  • Provide crisis intervention for youth, including assessments, offer direction to families for appropriate solutions, and seek alternatives to Juvenile Court, when appropriate.
  • Attend court hearings, provide status reports, supervision information and testimony.
  • Work with Arkadelphia, CenterPoint, and Gurdon school districts.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field or commensurate training and experience in related area.
  • Clear criminal background.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • 24 hours call out availability.
  • Ability to excel in teamwork environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based software applications.
